Very bad side effects of radiology therapy

Hi all,
I need some help/advice from those who may have similar experience. My father, in his early 80's, was diagnosed with colon cancer. The hospital in China treated him with some sort of "internal radiology". They conducted it by inserting some device into his anus close to the cancer. He has finished the treatment. Not sure about the results but he's not bleeding any more. However, now he suffers great pain in his anus. It feels to him like a bad case of hemorroids but it just doesn't go awy after 3 months since the treatment was over. The hospitial/doctors are not helping. They basically tell him to just be patient and wait till it heals itself. Does anyone know about it? Is there any effective treatment out there?

Thanks very much for any input!
