How Urgent? (Detailed)

My family has a rampant history of cancer in all its forms, so I've always been diligent about looking for symptoms (and yes, maybe a little paranoid). I'm only 21, so I thought I would have some time before I "really" had to worry about it, but I'm starting to think I may have to.

For the past few weeks or so, I've been having some really odd, irregular bowel movements. I'll feel like I have to, go, but then I hardly can. Or I will, and there will be this white mucus-looking stuff all throughout it. On top of that, I keep having these shooting pains in my lower abdomen, but only on the left side, right above my pelvis.

I am physically active. I hardly ever drink (no, really). I don't smoke, and I have a relatively healthy diet (who can say no to the occasional Dunkin Donut?) but I do think I have hypoglycemia. I've never been diagnosed but I have all the same symptoms as my mother, who actually WAS diagnosed.

So what I'm really wondering, how urgent is it that I see a Doctor, and who do I even go to? I'm a waitress with no insurance and no money to pay for it. Help would be GREATLY appreciated here.
