My mom was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and is going to have chemo treatments. A friend of ours had breast cancer and took chemo and radiation and now has damage to heart (60 percent working) and they say it is due to the chemo. I am worried. Has anyone else heard of chemo damaging the heart?

I am sorry to hear about your mother, I lost my mother last year due to the same thing, It was a long 4 years battle. She never had any heart problems but last year before she passed away, she started having trouble, there was fluid starting to build up causing her trouble breathing and chest pains. Just listen to the doctors and follow whatever advice they can give you, Everyone reacts to the chemo differently depending on their life style before and during the chemo treatments. It effects everyone not just the person battling it. Its a family battle.
