Just had my second colonoscopy Tuesday. I'm 51 and had my first at 46. Thankfully received a clean report. My father is 86 and has had a permanent colostomy for 27 yrs. Add this to prostate cancer, heart attack and 5 by passes. His colostomy never slowed him down, has traveled abroad twice, and just attended his only granddaughter's wedding. His attitude is incredible, and that has been his greatest ally in all his illnesses. I marvel at how much he wants to not survive, but thrive and live a full life. Think of all the living he would have missed over the past 27 yrs if he had given in to cancer. I know everyone's situation is unique, however, I truly believe by dad has survived due to him living a life of determination.
