Susan Davis posted:
The next season of Dancing with the Stars premieres March 19th. Did you know that last year's winner, J.R. Martinez, is an advocate for burn patients?

Read his story in WebMD the Magazine's January/February issue — what do you find most amazing about his coming back from his injury?

Colleen Paretty responded:
One bit that had to be cut for space is JR's involvement with the Iraq Star Foundation, a network of more than 250 surgeons nationwide who provide free reconstructive surgery for injured soldiers. Martinez, a spokesperson, is also a beneficiary.

"I had trouble with one of my eyes," says Martinez. "Iraq Star found out and said, 'Let us help.'"
As for his experience overall, he told us, "I don't want to get sympathy votes or a free pass. I want to prove that just because I look different doesn't mean I can't dance with the best of them."

Well, he certainly proved that!!

I'm more of a So You Think You Can Dance fan BUT I couldn't help but pay attention to J.R. as he made the rounds of talk shows when he was on DWTS. He is beyond impressive, all the way around. AND he could actually dance!

GREAT topic for WebMD magazine.
