Adult strabismus caused by thyroid? Anyone have this or heard of this?

I am desperately seeking answers/explanations for my sudden vision changes. It seems that I have strabismus (eye turn, alternating use of eyes) but this was previously undiagnosed/undetected until now. I haven't been formally diagnosed yet but an OT that I met with to evaluate my driving in light of the problems I've had with my vision lately said it looks like strabismus.
The research I've done online indicates that adult onset strabismus can be caused by thyroid disease. I've been borderline hyper for many years and my mom is hypo and I am still unable to gain weight, fatigued etc. Is it possible that my thyroid is the culprit here? If so, could treating the thyroid resolve the strabismus on its own or would I still have to undergo VT (already tried this once) or surgery?
Every time I've had bloodwork done, my numbers come out in the normal range
and then all the doctors say it's depression and try to get me on anti-depressants. If I'm depressed, it's because of these ongoing medical issues that no one can seem to diagnose or recognize! I am 31.

Read all you can about TED (thyroid eye disease)
Fighting with my eyes right now too, its no fun. Sorry your having a hard time getting diagnosed. Make sure they are running a full thyroid panel and not just a TSH on you.

Make sure they are running a full thyroid panel and not just a TSH on you.

Thyroid Blood tests are NOT accurate for diagnosing Thyroid problems! Your symptoms are the key!

I am looking at this link myself. I developed an adult squint a few years ago at exactly the same time that I also developed Achalasia, a disease where my nerves/muscles in my oesophagus have also failed. I think this is too much of a coincidence. I have also suffered depression on and off and get fatigued quite easily.
I am absolutely certain there is something underlying all of this and have recently found out that about a quarter of Achalasia patients have a thyroid problem.
For information I had adult squint surgery and it was brilliant. I would completely recommend it. You need to find a good surgeon who believes in adult squint surgery as you can find doctors who believe you are better just to leave it. Don't know where you are but Raman Malholtra in UK is outstanding. Really easy op....sounds worse that it is! I would put it comparable to having a filling..not something you would want but not that bad either!
Good luck, I hated my squint as it really got me down, but you can easily get it sorted.

After that I was annoyed at his reaction and decided to go see a specialist. I went to a naturaopathic doctor because I wanted to treat it naturally, but you can also go see an endocrinologist. A specialist will do more detailed tests that may show a thyroid disorder and you may just be more sensitive with the symptoms. I have no idea about the strabismus and the connection, but that doesn't mean it's not true. But maybe try making an appointment with a specialist if you haven't already
