Okay so this cycle I bit the bullet and made a doctors appointment to see what was going on and the steps we need to start to take.

I spoke with a stand-in doc cause my doctor was on holiday, explained we had been TTC since Oct 08, charting since Jan09, with a missed m/c in June of 09 at 10 weeks. I have a history of blood clots, and my LP has been varying more than it should the last 3 cycles. My DH has a gastrointestinal disease that sometime requires steroids so we were concerned that perhaps that has been impacting our efforts...

I was told that there was a bit of a wait to see the IF specialist cause there is only one here - so this morning I got a call from their clinic and thought "Wow - thats quick"

Except my consultation appointment has been scheduled for DECEMBER!!!! I mean OMG - I expected a wait but not 9 months!!!

I am so hoping that I dont need this appointment and we can just get pregnant without having all the testing etc, but having to wait till Dec before even getting to speak to someone seems outrageous

OMG that is awful!! Do you know why it is taking so long? I remember when I scheduled mine they told me 3 months, so I called another one until I could get in that same month. Geez!

That IS insane! Call around and see if you can find another doctor in your area who deals with IF. The testing is key and will shorten your wait time. Find someone new, quick!

WHAT!?! That seems a little over the top for a wait. Can your regular gyn start some of the testing for you while you're waiting to get in to a fertility specialist? Is there someone relatively close by that you can see? I hope you can get something much sooner because that seems ridiculous.

OMG that is so rediculous :frown: That is incrediable I have never heard of someone waiting that long! Is there one that would be maybe a little bit of a drive for you that you could go see instead? I live in Iowa and there are only 2 RE's here and they are in a joint clinic together. My other option if I didn't want to go see them was in Omaha, Neb. Which is about
3hrs away but it would have been worth it had I have to wait 9 months to see one of them. I know it would be a hassle to drive that far for blood work & u/s but maybe they could have you do those somewhere else and send the results to them?

I don't know it is just a thought for you. I don't even know if there are any others within that kind of distance or not. I really hope that you don't need the Drs. and you can do it on you own. I wish you the best of luck and keep us updated with any changes.

Thanks ladies - yesterday I was so mad :( Unfortunately I live on an island, and we only have one fertility specialist. To get off the island it's a drive and a 3 hour ferry and then a drive. I've sorted stuff out on the mainland before (specialist vet appointments) and it's a full day trip plus its a couple of hundred bucks every time for the travel.

I think I'll speak with my regular doctor and see if she can run the blood work tests and do the SA etc. At least if I get all that stuff done before the appointment it might help.

I'm hoping that we dont get to Dec without a BFP though, or that I get squeezed in for a cancellation appt.

When my doctor is back from her holidays I'll make an appt. to go chat with her. Thanks!!

That sound like a great idea. I hope she is able to help you out with all of that  Make sure to keep us posted with any updates.
