Hi everyone, I just needed a place to put thoughts down on "paper" as we used to say about our journey. We knew going in to our fertility journey of a male factor (low count). We started working with a group in January. We did a natural cycle to get a baseline, now we're upping the ante some. I took clomiphene citrate (50 mg) on days 5-9, and had an u/s on Monday. I had three possible good eggs, so we decided to move forward with an IUI treatment. I was given the trigger shot, and Wednesday morning I go in for my first one. I'm nervous. Will it hurt? What will it feel like? Will it work? How many of these will we have to try before moving up the ladder more. Just a lot to think about. I was glad I seemed to respond well to the clomiphene citrate, and I seemed to respond to the shot. Here's to hoping things work out for us all. Thanks for reading.

I just wanted to say for anyone reading this who may consider IUI, it was a good experience. I of course was nervous, but it didn't hurt. The best way I could describe it was some pressure in my abdomen, but nothing that was uncomfortable. Now it's just the waiting game.

just a word of encouragement, the IUI worked for my husband and I the very first try! I have irregular cycles and we have been together with no birthcontrol well over 10 years with no success on our own. we went to see our specialist, the clomid did not work on it's own the first round but the second time with the shot it did! we are proud parents of a 2yr babygirl!

Thank you for posting this! It keeps my spirits up! LOL. I will hopefully (fingers crossed) have my first IUI at the end of the month. Was suppossed to have one last month but unfortunately didn't ovulate.

mikimom2010, how awesome. That is encouraging news. We are still in the 2ww period, so no news yet. The clinic did test my progesterone again, and it showed improvement with the clomiphene citrate and the trigger shot. (went from a 9 natural cycle (previous month) to a 26 this cycle). Had some things to distract me this week, now I just have to try and distract myself until next week.

Stephstew123, hoping you have a good experience with it. I know it sounds clique', but it helps to try and relax. Are you already on prenatals? I've been taking them since January and was told to add a low-dose aspirin in mid-February. If this one doesn't work, we'll most likely repeat at the end of the month, so I could be right along with you.

Yes, I've been trying to relax and just remain calm. I enjoy doing yoga so that helps. I haven't taken the asprin. What is that suppossed to help with?

It's supposed to help with blood flow (by thinning the blood a little) so the lining can be better from a pg when it happens.

That's fine. I've been taking a low dose once a day. I am also on clomid for this cycle so hopefully I will ovulate. I go in on Monday to have my ultrasound for my IUI! Praying it all goes well!
