"Intuition"

Well girls, I've learned a valuable lesson: Don't EVER dismiss your intuition!! If something just doesn't feel right, no matter what your doctors say, push the issue!! I did, and while I don't like that I was right, I'm glad I did it.

Since trying the clomid for a few cycles to help w/my luteal phase defect, I've just not felt comfortable about it. I check CM, and during the 2nd cycle, I just wasn't seeing what I should see around ovulation. I've also noticed dryness. I know that this can be a side effect, so, I mentioned it to my doc. So, this cycle he added estrogen to the first 14 days to help. Well, I just wasn't satisfied with doing that, I know that clomid can also thin your lining, so I called and requested a sonogram to check the lining to see if it was thick enough and appropriate for where I was in my cycle. He ordered one, and I had it done yesterday. Well, sure enough, I was told that my lining was a little too thin for where I was in my cycle, and most likely would not be compatible for implantation.

Needless to say, this confirmed how I've been feeling, and well, I'm just so disappointed. All 4 of these cycles w/clomid, and our perfect timing didn't do a hill of beans of good, because my lining wasn't right. What a waste.

So, just a warning to you other girls, even tho I had sonograms to check the ovaries for cysts (another side effect from clomid), they didn't check the lining of the uterus at that time. PLEASE INSIST they do this!!!

Hi Dani,

I am so sorry things have been so tough. I agree with you usually we know our bodies better than anyone else. In particular when we are keeping track of everything from CM to temps to bding, all of the above. I think it makes you the expert on your body.

Take care,
Emma

Thanks so much. Sometimes, doctors just don't want to listen to their patients. That's frustrating.

I'm sorry Dani, that this has happened. I know you are beyond frustrated. I have read that Clomid does thin the lining. I don't understand why the prescribe it. Does it only thin the lining in some? I just want to send you many hugs, I know you feel like the last four cycles was such valuable wasted time.

What did the doctor suggest or will you wait for your April appt to discuss other options?

I don't think it effects everyone's lining, it's just one of those side effects that can happen, along w/hostile cm and ovarian cysts. That's why careful monitoring is soooo important.

My OB said estrogen supplementation can help, but he'd rather defer any more treatment options to the RE. So, now, we'll just wait and see what the RE has to say in April.

It's hard to stay positive that I will ever get pregnant again. We're trying, but it's difficult.

I wish I could just give you a big hug for this! I know it has to be so discouraging. It is like one step forward and two steps back. When will things start improving? Are you okay with waiting till April before you try anything else?

We can wait until April. My OB just isn't comfortable w/moving further and realizes we need the specialist. We agree! Right now I"m on CD #20, so AF should arrive by next weekend. When it does, my appt w/the RE is on April 4th, and I'll be around CD 14 or 15 for that appt. So, it'll mean taking a cycle off from TTC, but, really, what's another cycle?????

I've made an appt w/my chinese medicine doctor. Last Feb/March I went to her for accupuncture to help relieve the stress and anxiety of TTC and to help w/my blood pressure. It worked, and I also ended up getting pregnant, (which was a bonus) so we've decided it's time to go back. I go next Friday.

Dani- I am SO glad you pushed and pushed to get all the testing you needed to have done. (((HUGS))) to you!!

I hope that your RE appt goes well. I'll be checking in to see how you are doing!

I'm glad you are going to get more acupuncture. There is great research on it for fertility (as you probably know). It can also help with thickening the lining.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!
