So....after all these years we finally figured out EXACTLY what the problem is, and why it's so hard for DH and I to get pregnant. DH went to a different specialist at the big OHSU in Portland, and after a simple examination they figured out he has a grade 3 varicocele. Grade 3 meaning that it's so big you can actually see it. Meaning that his idiot doctor last year didn't catch it...I felt like shaking that stupid doctor for putting us through this for a year because of his stupid mistake!
Anyway...it looks like we finally got to the bottom of this, and once its repaired theres a very good chance we could go on to have as many kids as we want. One problem though, it's an elective surgery that will cost us around $3k, which we'll have to save up for.
So that's it. no more wondering why, no more being in the dark. It's strange to think that, as far as percentages go, this is exactly what will fix everything.....I still can't help but think there's something else wrong, because for us its ALWAYS something else. I won't hold my breath or anything, but...you have to have something to hope for I guess. So...yay

Hi l8dsheena , Thats awesome news. I meant to reply yesterday. But see things are finally coming together you guys are on the right path. That's why sometimes we have to look outside the box and push these doctors to do more or just look elsewhere. And that is exactly what you did, and it payed off Yayy..You will be bringing a little one home in no time....Best wishes and God Bless keep us posted

Katie! I am so glad that you finally have some answers, and it seems to be a fairly easy fix! Will they allow you to do a payment plan that way you don't have to wait? I'm chomping at the bit for you... patience has never been a virtue of mine

Anyway, I am so, so happy that things are starting to straigten out for you and am looking forward to your BFP post soon! Keep us posted!

Hey Katie! I am glad that now you have an answer. My husband had the same problem about 7 years ago, a little after DD was born. He had the procedure done and everything was fine after that. We knew he had a high probability of having it b/c it runs in the family and his father had the same problem and he told DH awhile ago.
Hopefully everything goes great from now on.Good Luck!

Thank you girls. I still can't help but think that this won't fix it, or something will go wrong. I've had such bad luck with everything these past 2 years, it makes me want to cry because nothing has worked so far. But I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
Ani, I'd like to learn more about your DH's situation if you don't mind, like what his count was before and after, and how much of a fix it really was, and whatnot.

I'll just tell you our story really quick. A couple of months after our daughter was born FIL told my husband that he was diagnosed with varicocele and his Dr told him that probably your son has it too so my husband went for a check up and sure enough he had it. Our family Dr explained that the only bad side effect was low sperm count. We decided not to do the tests b/c we weren't ttc plus it was going to cost more money and at the time we had lots of medical bills from DD being born early. The Dr. said we could wait and if we won't get pregnant again to go in and have a sperm count done but instead we decided to just go ahead and do the procedure so we wouldn't have to worry about it later. My second pregnancy we got a BFP 3 months after trying. Hopefully that helped a little.

We got an update on the finances of the surgery. There's no financial help available, and they want $3k up front. So there's another bummer. They told us the day after I found out my newly married sister is pregnant . So I'm looking for a part time job working for anyone who will hire a housewife who has never been emplyed. please...pray that we find a way to pay for this...

Hi Katie sending prayers your way....I am so happy you finally have some answers and you guys are on your way to making this happen. As for the finances thing trust me, I totally get it that. That has been my stand still and probably the reason I don't have my baby yet. There is no help for infertility and it's just not fair. Insurance companies cover only the minimum if your lucky, which I don't get. But anyways I know 3k is alot of money because we don't have it, but then again it's not an impossible amount to get. Have you looked into McDonalds or even a supermarket? I'm sure they will work with you. Also tax season is around the corner I know you guys wanna start right away but just something to consider. Good luck hun and don't give up. I'm starting my 3rd round of Clomid tomorrow. So let's see if this my lucky month

you're right, there really is no financial help for infertility...they'll pay for your birth controll and tubal ligations, but not your clomid and SA's. Good luck this cycle!!
