Hi. This is kind of long, but I'm really hoping for some advice. First of all, my fiancee is a triplet, so it definitally runs in his genes. I went to the hospital 3 days ago and found out I was pregnant. The doctor guessed me at about 8 weeks due to my hormone level. It was 6,000. I went back the next day because I was having problems and my hormone level was at 8,000. I was told that that amount of an increase could possibly mean more that one.

I went to the ultrasound but they couldnt see the baby. It was too early. All they could see was the sac forming. Also, that week, I had bled a bit, which I think was my implantation bleeding. This all leads me to believe I am about 4 weeks pregnant. Hormone levels at 4 weeks should be anywhere up to like 430. Mine were 8,000 two days ago. Even if I was 5 weeks and the spotting was my missed period, the level is only supposed to be like 6,000.

All of my research is leading me to believe it's twins or tripletts, but the doctors out here all contradict each other and if you ask anyone, none of them are good at all, so I don't know what to think. I was hoping for some advice from people who have had more than one or remember their hormone levels. Thank You!

Congrats on your pregnancy. I had fraternal twin girls in January 2010. What I know about the genetic aspect of of twins is it is passed from thw womans mother to her daughter and so on. My Dr. never told me what my hormone levels were and I'm assuming that is because they were in the normal range for a singleton pregnancy... We didn't find out we were having twin until my 20wk ultrasound, even though they run on my mother's side of the family and I had a feeling I was carrying twins. Don't worry too much and if you have any questions don't be afraid to call your dr. no matter what time of day, and always go with your gut feeling. I was 36wks and call my dr at 3am because i was vomiting and didn't "feel right" my dr. said I probably had a stomach bug and wait it out. I wasn't going to wait it out I went to the ER at 6am was admitted at 6:15, they were going to send me home after giving me fluids they checked me I was at 3cm then an hour later I was 6cm. The dr came in and saisd I would have they babies that day and I had a c-section delivery at 9:44 and 9:47am.

If you think you are going to have multiples keep telling your dr. that you know your body better than anybody else. Also I would research everything. Knowledge is your bestfriend. My twin pregnancy was my second I also have a 3yr old daughter. My dr didnt think twice about me having twins I only gained 18 1/2lbs. from what i've read I should have gained 50 . Even the dr was surprised at the ultrasound that there were twins. My girls were born at 36wks and 5 lbs 6oz and 5lbs 14 oz. Just go with your gut. I hope this helps a little .
