    April 27, another anniversary

So tomorrow is another anniversary for me. If all goes according to plan, I will have 3 pancreas anniversaries this year. Feb. 28 was the second anniversary of my pancreas transplant. But April 27 2008 was my last injection of insulin (6 units of lantus). It's pretty amazing. The interesting thing is that I was about 2 years and 4 months old when I was diagnosed with T1. So in another 4 months I will have spent as much time insulin free as an adult as I did as a child. Believe me, I appreciate it much more now. So I'll celebrate that date too! LOL

Today was my 4 year anniversary since I was diagnosed. Last year my pump quit working on my anniversary so I was glad today was uneventful!

I'm actually going to be celebrating with an appointment with the urologist. I have had intermittent bleeding, most likely due to the new pancreas. It is really rare, only a couple of occasions last June and 2 days in March, but it should be looked at. My tx center thinks it is either due to some erosion from the digestive enzymes from the pancreas, or a staple that has migrated from the pancreas attachment.

On the plus side, I got a great compliment from my nephrologist who gave me the referral. In the "patient history" box he wrote "kidney/pancreas transplant in Minnesota. Patient is intelligent and will tell you the whole story". I was really flattered.

So, what does all of that mean for you at this point? Can it be fixed? I'm sorry, I don't know that much about transplants.

I can see why you're flattered! I'm sure after what you've been through, you've educated yourself to know more than some of the doctors, huh?

Hope your appointment goes well and you get good results. Keep us posted.

So the appointment went well. I really like the guy. He's young, thorough, and knows his stuff. It could be several things including a type of virus. I will have an ultrasound and a cystoscopy. There is a good chance that this is something that will happen occasionally that I won't need to worry about.

    I'll keep you posted.

    Thanks.

Glad to hear your appointment went well. So, they think it COULD be from a virus? You know, my right arm went paralzyed the day before Easter. They seem to think it was from a virus also. I can't remember ever having a virus though. Tomorrow, I should find out more info. I'm scheduled for a 2 hr visit for an Electromyogram and Nerve Conduction Study. I'm really nervous about this test. I think I'm going to OD on drugs to calm me down. LOL

Well, I'm glad to hear that IF it happens occasionally you won't need to worry about it. I was concerned that your transplant was going out.

Good! Enjoy your cake! Tell your little sister I said, "Happy Birthday". She has no idea who I am. She's gonna say, huh? Who's that? LOL
