Diabetes, Swollen foot and Leg

My Mom is Diabetic and she is in alot of Pain!! She has a Swollen Foot with a Red Line running down her shin into ankle. Her blood vessels have turned a brighter blue. She has gone to The emergency and they only took an x-ray and didnt find anything and then sent her on here way.....Another Dr. seen her last week because she has been having Dizziness spells and even fell outside my front door and split her head open right at the top of her forehead and was taken by Ambulance to The Hospital.....She started having this leg and foot problem right around the same time!! I'm so Worried about her because it is Causing her alot of PAIN even to walk. One Dr. prescibed her Antibiotcs (Stating that is probably an Infection. It has to be something els because it hasn't gotten Better>>>It's gotten Worse!!! Please HELP!!!

It sounds like an infection to me. I can't comment on the fall, the 2 may not be connected, but a red line going down the leg is not normal. Have you called her regular doc? ER is not always the best as they try to send you on your way and don't know you. I would keep on trying until you get some satisfaction. The swelling and redness are not normal and could be dangerous.

I really feel bad for your mother and your worry, You don,t say what her bglood sugars are or what type of insulin she is taking. ,m not a doctor but I just went to see my Dr. because my feet were swollen up to my knees. He took one look at my legs and said there were not blood clots and he prescribed me compression socks. They took the swelling down, I am not in pain and these socks certainly took the swelling down.If you have tried a lot of things, take into consideration these compression socks, they may help her. Again, you haven,t said what insulin she,s on or how much she takes, that is important, and diabetes are notorious for having bad balance. Hope she gets better soon.

I don,t know if this will help. I went to the doctor with swollen feet and ankles up to my knees. He said it did not look like blood clots were there and gave me a prescription for compression socks for diabetics, after wearing them for a few days all of the swollen stuff went back to normal. hope this helps
