another ankle surgury!

I had ankle surgury last May, but after it healed I kept spraining that same ankle. Had a MRI, which showed I had torn the 3 outside ligaments, as well as tearing the remaining tendon!
Had another surgury on Jan.4th. Doctor actually drilled through the tibia to attach the ligaments, and repaired the tendon again. Told me to use crutchs for 3 weeks.
Saw him yesterday, and I get to spend another 3 weeks on the darn things! My own fault though, as I has been doing some walking on that foot.
Now my sugars are running wild again. Don't know if it's because I'm still in pain, or because I'm upset about the possibilty of having total ankle reconstruction if I break the tibia. I know I need to test more often, but I've always really struggled with testing even once a day. LOL any advice would be welcome!!

Try to increase your testing gradually. It takes some time to develop new habits. Since you are trying to heal, it is especially important to do this and keep good control. You don't want to lose anything.

Also, don't try to push it. I am recovering from a surgery to my leg and every time I overdo it, I end up losing a week that I can't exercise it. If I stick to the slow but steady schedule the physio has set for me I make much better progress. Keep up with those crutches. I know they are a pain, but in the long run it will be good for you.

Thank you so for much for replying. It is very hard not to overdo it while recovering. And you're right , I really don't want to have to have total ankle reconstruction because I was too stubbern to use the crutches!
