HEALTH CARE SHOULD BE A RIGHT FOR EVERY PERSON, WHAT PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND IS THAT THEY ARE ALREADY PAYING FOR EVERYONE,THRU HIGHER INSURANCE COSTS. MOST PEOPLE ARE GETTING HEALTH CARE NOW,BUT IT IS EMERGENCY CARE ,NOT PREVENTIVE CARE WHICH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THOSE IRRESPONSIBLE PEOPLE THAT WOULD MAKE POOR CHOICES LIKE ( DRINKING, SMOKING, RIDING A HARLEY, OR BIG NEW SHINNY PICK-UP ) rather than paying for healthcare for thier kids, or should i say the children they fathered. UNTIL PEOPLE START BEING FORCED OR TAUGHT TO BE RESPONSABLE, THINGS WON'T CHANGE.
I THINK A PUBLIC OPTION IS THE BEST CHOICE . IF OTHER COUNTRIES CAN OFFER UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE , I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY OUR COUNTRY CAN,T . THANKS JUDY

It's a shame that we even have the need for government reform. As consumers we should always asked questions about our bills. Like when your stuck in the hospital over a weekend and not yet diagnosed and nothing is being done to diagnosis your case, doctor stops in asks how you feel and leaves, no tests done and nobody bothers to ask what did the doctors, hospital and staff do to earn their money? Why am I paying full price for the bed while getting no REAL diagnostic work up and only half the service? We as a people seem to have forgot that business can only charge what the market will bare and it's up to the consumer to set the price by refusing to pay for being sat on, too the point of telling them to TAKE ME TO COURT! File a counter claim am get it to a jury that way, because they face the same problems too (thats why it's called a jury of our peers). Everyone else has to earn their pay, it's up to us to hold doctors and hospitals to the same standards.

As for universal health care, there some people that portray it a socialism, which it's sad to say too many people have bought into this scare tactic. If universal health care is such a bad idea, then why are we rated so poorly for access to care, quality of care, equity of care and overall longevity, when compared to the rest of the civilized world. I guess the rest of the world (with better care & health) is WRONG and the UNITED STATES is right. We have the technology it just needs to be made avalible to everone.

I'm proud to be an American, I am not proud of the American government, whit both sides of the House and Senate behaving worse then 5 year olds. If the Republicans and Democrats can't learn to work and play together like adults, please remember to fire them when they are up for re-election, after all we have nothing left to lose. Open diplomatic debate and discourse is one of the things that makes this the greatest country in the world, we need to hype PEOPLE that is actually grown up enough to accomplish that first little step back to greatness!

It is SOCIALISM! Look up the definition & you'll see. Sadly, we have moved farther & farther away from the principles this gov't was founded upon and closer to the fiscally suicidal and growth stunting "progressive" & "socialistic" ideals that have created economies such as Greece! Open your eyes & common sense to see what is down the pike if we continue down this insane road of GOV'T CONTROL over much of society, including Health Care. Waiting a few years for surgery is common in the UK. Since Obama's been in office, he's ignored the voice of the majority of society and ramrodded & arm-twisted irresponsible legislation through that will bankrupt this country if we don't act to reverse it all SOON...
Look at what's happening to the rest of the country right now - many states are on the brink of bankruptcy if the feds don't BAIL them out again, which was the point of the stimulus, not create jobs. Anyone with any common sense concerning business or fiscal responsibility can see where this is all headed. Welfare is way out of control, which was started with Roosevelt as a TEMPORARY FIX, that has turned into a lifestyle for many. I know, I've worked with families who have been on welfare for generations! That is a good place to start reform & responsibility instead of gov't handouts to support irresponsible behavior and drug habits. I've seen it over & over again. Welfare shouldn't be a permanent solution to temporary problems. Where has personal responsibility gone?? Instead of actually helping people become independent, we enable & cripple them from succeeding. This is where community leaders and churches can make an enormous difference, instead of expecting GOV'T to fix all the problems with the tax dollars of those who are responsible. Small business has been stifled in this economy & tax-loving gov't. It provides many of the jobs that drive this economy and give those in need a job and a future. We need to turn this bus around NOW!!!

I am concerned about the "pre-exsisting" conditions. I have several and have my trusted Dr.s. With the new healthcare reform.. will I have to change Dr.s or keep the ones who "know me"??

Also, when some people use the ER as a "clinic" .. I have sat for hours when a non life or death person arrives by ambulance .. only to have the rest of us who are in need of the ER professionals set for hours.

With the new health care reform: Can persons who abuse the ER system make it mandatory to attend specialized classes on the "problem" that they came in for. Including but not limited to classroom, and be held responsible for attending AND passing a compreshive test on the subject. Also to let them know just how much it cost to sttend to their "OWIE".

I wouldnt mind doing that myself, should it occur that my ER visit was not life theatening.

How will the unemployed (and/or have never worked), younger demographic be affected by the reform?

When you get Obamacare, you will be crying to have it changed back to the way it currently is. Doctors work in public hospitals and can well attest to what government medicine is. All of the Europeans are trying to get rid of the systems they have.

I agree but would like to point as a Operating Room Tech since 1978 the biggest problems I see are: Making a disease, disability or other misfortune into big business and big money, medicine is about helping the most unfortunate people, who have REAL problems with their health, but instead it became an opportunity to make big money and they are NOT the values I was raised with. The other problem is that we let bad doctors practice bad medicine, I've seen the same guys make the same mistakes time and again and nobody stops them!

If all we worry about is money, then the value of a human life is only worth a few dollars, UNTIL IT'S YOUR LIFE!! In the end my personal belief is that, a persons value cannot be measured by the size of their bank accounts (see if you can buy your way out of a grave), all we can take with us is the love and respect we EARN from our family and friends.

One of the most striking I've found to be very common among all humans is the way our hands fit together so well, like when you hold the hand of a scared child or adult, or help them up if they fall or even a simple hand shake, I would like to believe it's because we were created in a way that allows us to help one another, rather then put up a hand to hold them down, there are however lower species that do not have this ability!

I'm beginning to fear that trying to be a hard working man that has integrity and common decency is becoming politically incorrect! If our government wants to do anything they need to do what we are doing, "TALKING" without this there would never have been a UNITED STATES of AMERICA and if things don't change we will be hunter-gatherers in no time flat and sir or ma'am please take a chill pill, all that anger is not healthy.
