One itchy nipple?

An_224698 posted:
I'm 22 years old and I've noticed that for the past year my left nipple will itch for a few weeks, go away for a few months, and then come back. (The itch is similar to a bug bite). The right nipple never itches. I'm slightly concerned because my left nipple is slightly larger than my right one (though it really isn't that dramatic of a difference, it's still scary!). This time around, my left nipple is not only itchy but the skin is dry and peeling. How concerned should I be?

Did you ever find out anything? It's strange but I have the same exact problem... My left nipple has itched for about a year off and on and the right one never has (I am 37) it is starting to worry me a bit!

Yes I have! I went to see my general doctor and she wanted me to get a biopsy. Luckily, I signed up for one with a dermatologist because she recognized that there was nothing worth biopsying. Any change in coloring or size was due to the fact that it was irritated. She said it was a dermatological problem and just to use hypoallergenic soaps and detergent, as well as to apply anti-itch cream that she gave me. She said that they don't know why one would itch and the other wouldn't, but that it is extremely common.
