How to potty train a toddler WHILE working?

I am going back to work after a few years haitus for pregnancy and childrearing. My daughter is now two and a half and we are getting into potty training. I have NO idea how to do this and be at work at the same time. Is this something my day care provider is expected to take over? ...Isn't that cheating, making my day care person toilet train my daughter?

I am also having MAJOR guilt about going back to work, so if you have any words of advice that would be great. We need the money, but we would be OK if I only worked part time...I am going back full time so we can pay off some debt and do some home improvement projects, you know, get ahead instead of living paycheck to paycheck. Anyway, thanks for your support. :-)

Ok, my boys are 13 and 20. The first boy was trained at his preschool at 2 and a hlaf.

The second one, I took off a week and did it myself.

Well, this is what I did with DS1. On weekends, I would have my DS go barebottom to get the hang of using the potty. He'd have accidents, of course, but it would make him more aware of when he was going. When he seemed to recognize his cues and use the potty more, I then chose a three-day weekend to go to underwear-only (except for naps and night). He was ready, and it worked (he had poop accidents for awhile, and we just were patient and kept him in undies until he worked it out).

I'd suggest communicating with your d/c provider about what you are doing. Ask then to take your DD to the potty to "practice." They may have a time when they take kids to the potty, say in pairs, and your DD can see other using the potty and know it is just something we do. You can keep her in diapers through this phase until she practices a bit. I found that my sons' d/c really served as a partner in what I was doing; I pt'd him, but they also helped.

By the way - the first time I took my second DS into d/c diaper-free, he just announced to me that morning that he wanted to try underwear. He'd never used the potty with any consistency. I'm glad I chose to trust him; he did great, and all of us were shocked. Little stinker knew how to do it, but just had to choose his own time. :-)
