I talked to my doctor today about some ongoing problems that persisted all throughout my childhood. I told him about some of my behaviors and such attention problems that are becoming bothersome and he prescribed me adderal and I was wondering does it take your body time to adjust to this medication? I started it today and so far it is making me sleepy, unless my body just has to get used to it. I am also on other meds too though. I am nervous about starting new medicine and I hope it helps me because I hate not being able to pay attention and focus.

Hi mem606 and thanks for posting!

Adjusting to taking a newly prescribed medication can definitely be frustrating.

Here is a link to relevant information about the side-effects of Adderall: http://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-63163/adderall-oral/details#side-effects

However, I think it's important that you maintain an open line of communication with your doctor about these symptoms, and any other symptoms that you experience. Especially since you feel like it may be related to a medication.

Please let us know how you're doing once you've talked to your doctor.

Hello Morgan thank you so much for that useful information. Since I have posted this message I have been doing very well. My symptoms improved since starting my new medication as well as anxiety has improved. I do however, get sleep on occasion but I rather be sleepy then anxious. The medicine definably improves my focus as well as my anxiety. I am also happy because one of my anxiety medications I have taken for years I am off of now. So I am glad I gave this medication more time to settle in my system.
