    Sciatica - Need tips on treatment

    FortMax posted:
    Hi,

    My father is battling Sciatica for the past month. The pain has been unbearable causing to lose sleep, appetite and weight.

    He is currently on:
    * Gabapentin (300mg, 3x a day)
    * Naproxen (Anti-Inflammatory)
    * Cyclobenzaprine (Muscle relaxer)

    Unfortunately this combination isn't doing much to relieve his pain,
    Its also causing him constipation and loss of appetite.

    We tried using Lyrica, which was working a little bit but due to the side effect of his voice becoming very hoarse we stopped it and went back to Gabapentin.

    We are not able to give him a steroid shot yet as his MRI shows two bone lesions. The doctor wants to do a biopsy first and see what the results says in order to determine if its ok to do it.

    So while we wait...

    Would anyone have any suggestions on how to treat the sciatica? Or lessen his pain. Whether it be different drugs or something else?

    Appreciate it if anyone has suggestions or tips
    Thanks!
