Realities Blog: I'll be bald OR fat - not both!
    Haylen_WebMD_Staff posted:
A new post from expert Jennifer Goodman Linn .

Do you agree with her doctor's statement below?

"Being vain is a GREAT thing and shows that you have a true desire and willingness to live. To be honest Jen, I get worried about the patients who are not willing to set any parameters and no longer care about the quality of their life or their looks."

That sounds like a case of depression to me! What' s the poem? "Do not go gentle..." No, I'd much rather see someone a bit more feisty!

I agree with Rachael it sounds like someone that is depressed. I would rather be bald or fat not both. That is crazy I would rather be alive and who cares if I am bald or fat. If you don't like me because I am bald or fat then I don't need you in my life see ya, because you are not a true friend any way. A true friend would like you no matter what you look like and would be there no matter what. If you are more worried about what you look like then your health and living and getting better and beating the cancer. Then you really need to get some help because there is something going on inside you that you need to figure out. I don't understand the Dr why of thinking being vain is a great thing and her way of showing she wants to live. I see it saying the opposite.

    Hi Haylen,
I think he could have said something different to
help motivate her. I feel like most of us care more
about getting rid of the cancer. I, muself am doing
the reconstruction part smaller than I was. For me I
feel that my clothes would fit better and yes I would
still feel like myself again. I don't think that is being vain.
    0910faith replied to brcansur's response:
You said that very well. Maybe she is depressed.
