    my son woke up this morning with both eyes sore and blood red. not blood shot but blood red. they are very sore and he has also got a head ache that is being caused by his eyes. if anyone can help me to understand what might be going on with his eyes i would be very grateful.

    Could be a particularly bad case of pink eye (conjunctivitis) but given the discomfort and headache, he needs to be seen by a doctor; best choice being an eye doctor, soon. Other more serious issues are possible. No internet diagnosis is possible given these symptoms and findings.
