    Chest Pain

Can GERD cause Crushing Chest Pain. I do have GERD. I take Nexium 40mg 1xday. They want me to take it twice a day but they just aren't understanding it my insurance won't pay for twice a day.

I have been experiencing crushing chest pain bringing me to my knees, it made me have a car accident and have every test they can think of to say that it is not heart related. Which is great because heart disease runs in my family.

But could GERD cause crushing chest pain to basically mild chest pain daily to every other day.

    Any suggestions.

    Hello,
I suffer from GERD for more than 15 years, I have had 3 or 4 endoscopies, taken antibiotics for Pylori 2 times. Now they prescribed me antibiotics again.
This is it! I am going to change my eating habits and consult FunctionalMedicine in my area. I do not want to take antibiotics again, or depend on antacids to control my acid production.
There must be something else, that works, something that we eat or our life style is making us sick. We the people! should do something. Don't give up!,

I have scleroderma and acid reflux bad, I get muscle spasm in my esophagus, I have a thing I do to help this, I do breathing exercises when it occurs, slow deep breaths in and slowly let out and it starts to ease the pain, like meditation. It find that I don't get it often but soda can trigger it or cheeses, also smoking. I take nexium. I am going to try probiotics for a few months, some people say it relieves it for what I read about reviews.

I have been on some type of GERD meds for over 35 years. Starting with Prilosec through Nexium, aciphex and protonix, I've experienced chest pain on almost a daily basis. I have found, from another board something which eliminates my chest pain. I have been drinking Kefir for the last 2 months and have not had any chest pain. For those who are experiencing chest pain from the GERD medications, I would recommend you try Kefir. It is made from either milk or water and is kind of like a watery yogurt. You can find it at Walmart or Whole Foods and probably most other grocery stores. If it works for you, you can make your own. Google Kefir to find Kefir grains to start your own culture. I

Hello, I have spasms aswell. It feels like a bubble in the center of my chest that ripples , sometimes very minor, but other times strong and leaves pain afterwords . Mine is mostly in the same spot right where my esophagus meets my stomach , but other times it's higher up towards my throat. Stressful situations sometimes triggers it or it can just come out of the blue sometimes scary. I also have chest pain and light headedness on occasion. Reading these other posts lets me know I'm not alone. I do have a suggestion for the chest pain, I rub joint rubs on my chest like Tigerbalm , the wife doesn't like it , but it does relieve the discomfort for awhile. Thankyou all for your posts and good luck.

I am 39 and have been suffering with crushing chest pains, tingliy fingers and arms, extreme pressure from stomach up to neck, sometimes feeling like i am being choked. I continously have rushed to emergency room, been to physician thining i am having heart attacks, and everytime they run all kinds of tests and my heart is normal. They diagnosed GERD. I have been on medication and monitoring my diet and i still go through the symptoms everyday, It is very scary to me and my family and very painful. Wishing you lots of luck on finding a suitable treatment.

I have the same thing. Intense chest pains going all the way to the back, neck, and left arm. I have been diagnosed with IBS but none of the prescribed medications helped with the pain.

However, I find that Turmeric capsules, plus Imodium (Loperamide) help. When you take either (or both) you start burping within a short time and if you sit still for a moment you start to feel better. Not a cure, but it does help with the pain.

Oddly enough, in an emergency, gulping down Diet Coke or similar helps a bit by making you burp.

I emphasise that these work for ME. I cannot say if your experience will be the same.

From reading all of the posts: I have experience just recently the same symptoms. I never had this to happen to me before. I went to the emergency room due to shortness of breath and chest pain, even had a episode in the ER where I throat closed. They perform 3 EKGS. X-ray and MRI and found nothing. Said my heart was fine and diagnose me with GERD. I still suffer with this and at times it happen all of a certain without warning. It is scary especially the chest pains and closing of the throat. They told me the acid had gotten into my esophagus causing Bronchospasm. Is there no cure for this disease?
