Total Right Hip Replacement Surgery this coming Monday, 6/15/15

My total right hip replacement surgery will be this Monday, 6/15/15. We have to be at the hospital by 6:00 am. I believe the actual surgery will happen by 8:00 am. I will be in the hospital for at least 3 days, then may go to their rehab center for a few days. They will assess me on Wednesday and may release me to go home and have a physical therapist come to the house for a few days. I think the latter is my preference.

I'm not looking forward to surgery, but I am in so much pain I am looking for relief from that pain. If all goes well, my excellent orthopedic surgeon will do the left one in about 3 months.

So, asking for good thoughts and prayers. Thanks.

I came home from the hospital Wednesday afternoon. I am on morphine, so a bit loopy. The surgery went pretty well with some minor complications. My hip was far worse that the surgeon originally thought, and I bled a lot and needed two transfusions. A physical therapist came at 10:30 am yesterday and a nurse is coming today to take blood and examine me. While I have pain from the incision, the joint pain is gone. Now I just have to heal and see the surgeon in his office on 6/29.

Oh my goodness. Two transfusions? Are you going to be ok during the next hip replacement? Thats just so scarey. I am so glad that your joint pain is gone. yiippeeee. That must be so nice not having that pain. Take care and rest up.
