Alere Determine HIV 1/2 Ag/Ab combo

    Hello Gail

I only have one simple question about this Rapid HIV Test. I went to the Department of Health ang Human Services for testing... My only and first exposure was long time ago in 2013 with a girl for less then a minute. I never had any potential exposure after that. I learned my lesson and i always use condom. Fingerprick blood and my result was negative. Then I asked them what is that type of test we used? The Health manager and coordinator at the Department told me it is called Alere Determine HIV1/2 Ag/Ab Combo and it may detect HIV infection in 2 weeks after exposure. However my exposure was far way more than 2 weeks.

I just need your opinion about that test I took which I never heard of it? Is it a good, accurate and reliable? What do you think?

    Thank you.

Yes; this is a very accurate test. If you had been infected back in 2013 you would certainly be producing antibodies and this test would have picked this up from your blood. There were no antibodies in your blood and you are HIV negative. Congratulations!
