SCARED with NHL -Anaplastic Large Cell, ALK(+), Stage IIIa???????

Hello! My name is Jennifer and I am a 38 yr. young w-female that was recently diagnosed with NHL+.... The name of this discussion is my actual diagnosis. I am NOT really understanding this diagnosis. My oncologist has not really been able to explain the diagnosis where I can understand him. It's not that he is foreign and I can not understand him that way. I just do not understand what it is that I have and it is really starting to scare me as I do know that it is spreading and it is spreading fast and aggressively. I would really like to know if anyone has been diagnosed with this type of Lymphoma and went through any of the treatment for it??? Also, does ANYONE know what ALK is??? I would appreciate ANY responses as soon as possible and you may even E-Mail me the response to really keep it private if you like...E-MAIL: [email protected]

Hello Jennifer. First let me say, I am very sorry for what you must be going through. Having lost both of my parents to 2 different kinds of cancer, I HATE that disease and going through the confusion they seem to be putting you through is unacceptable. My question is: what tests did they run to find out that you have NHL? My husband has most of the syptoms and I am SO scared that I will lose someone else that I love to this awful disease. My prayers are with you.

My husband was diagnosed in 1999, he had the lymphnode under his chin cut out and told he had a 65% chance of making it too Christmas, that was in July 1999. His friend told him to do meth for about a week, he has 3 inoperable tumors in his brain, so he did it, what did he have to lose...he's been alive and in remission for years now. He usually has to do it 2 times a year to keep them shrunk away from certain parts of his brain. Some people are totally against using illegal drugs to stay alive, but I'm glad he's still alive and if you decide to try it, please send us a note letting us know if you too go into remission.
