Hi, I am a 59 year old newly retired teacher. I suffered a whole school year with osteoarthritis in the hips. My doctor recommended that i lose 40 pounds before the procedure, then after the long struggle, he said 40 more. My BMI is 43. I am getting so discouraged, going to th gym and swimming faithfully, eating healthy and everything fo r a year. I've lost 46 pounds, but still am not closer to the weight that the dr, reccommends. Any suggestions, anyone in the same predicament?

Hi there and thanks for posting,

Everyone's weight loss journey is different. If you feel as though the number on the scale is not indicative of the amount of work that you are putting in then you should talk to your doctor about a health/fitness plan that would maximize your weight loss. You are putting in the effort and you deserve to have results that represent that!
