Lupus, Skin Care and Makeup - How do you care for your skin?
    Elizabeth_WebMD_Staff posted:
This new article talks about sunscreen, makeup and cosmetic procedures. It even gives recommendations for products. Did you know the founder of product line Nicole Paxson Cosmetics has lupus?

Do you prefer to wear sunscreen, protective clothing or avoid the sun?

Have you found a good product to cover rashes, red marks or scars?

Would you consider cosmetic procedures risking skin irritation?

    Share your answers and recommendations,

I myself prefer to wear sunscreen. and of course a hat!! I love being outside in the sun. Last year when the discoid lupus came out, my face had a lot of blisters, and a lot of peeling. It looked really bad. I had my sisters wedding to go too, and I was so worried about pictures because of how my face looked at the time, well I have found that Bare Minerals make up is the best at covering these blister, scars and peeling. In the pictures you wouldnt even know my face had all these scars and blisters!! THANK YOU BARE MINERALS!! I have always wanted to do a facial, but scared of the irritations it may cause... still cautious!!

I am also a huge Bare Minerals fan. For a moisturizer, I like Eucerin's Redness Relief product line. The green undertone helps "cancel out" some of the redness, and it's very non irritating to the skin. Generally, I use sunscreen, but leave it off occasionally for the extra vitamin D benefit (but never in direct sun, or for an extended period.)

I like using sun screen and Avon Minerals Liquid Foundation, it helps to reduce the redness on my face.
