Hello From Minnesota...a Cluster Headache sufferer

For about 7 years now I have suffered with these ungodly, excruciating cluster headaches. when i feel one coming on it is often too late to prevent the pain. My right eye will close on its own most of the time and tear profusely on its own if I am not crying from the pain. Majority of the time the cluster headaches are so painful that I cannot move my face or head, neck, and shoulder on my right side without having an explosion of severe pain.

However I have discovered that ginger root juice along with orange (mandarin is my favorite), black grapes, and or apples will take away my headaches within 5 minutes. If I do not have any ginger root (rarely I am without) I can either take a Ibuprofen in gel capsule form or use my electronic stimulus machine: it is a device that is about the half a size and thickness of a brick, with a clip to attach to the velcro belt strap that i put around my waist and another velcro strap around my head, wet down the small sponges that are attached to these two electrodes that I then slip under the velcro strap around my head just on the temples and turn the machine on for about twenty minutes and usually that one round would take away my headaches but the last time I had to rely on the machine I had to do two rounds.

Within the past two years I have gone for long periods of time without having a headache but within the past two months during the period I have had to go off Prozac and Abilify - they were not working for me anymore - I have had at least two to three of these headaches within a twentyfour hour period...I have also noticed that my sinuses are usually pretty dried out which I do believe in turn is one of the causes of my headaches. One night i had a slight nose bleed during a cluster headache attack.

Does anyone else out there have Cluster headaches?
