    NUMBNESS AFTER ARTHROSCOPIC HIP SUR

    SEGERBOB posted:
I HAD ARTHROSCOPIC HIP SURGERY TO REPAIR A LABERAL TEAR, AND REMOVE A BONE SPUR ON MY LEFT HIP EXACTLY 3 WEEKS AGO. I WAS GIVEN THE CHOICE OF HAVING AN EPIDURAL, OR GENERAL, AND I CHOSE TO HAVE GENERAL. I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF HAVING A NERVE BLOCK DONE, OR WAS NEVER TOLD THE RISKS IF I WERE TO HAVE ONE. POINT BEING, I AM 3 WEEKS OUT OF SURGERY, AND I HAVE COMPLETE NUMBNESS IN MY VAGINA/CLITORIS AREA. NO FEELING WHAT SO EVER, AND AM NOT SURE WHAT TO THINK WHEN THEY SAY IT MIGHT TAKE UP TO 8 WEEKS TO COME BACK. IS THAT JUST AN EXCUSE TO STOP ME FROM ASKING QUESTIONS RIGHT NOW?

My guess is they just mean it might take 8 weeks for the feeling to come back. It can take a while in some cases. I had my hip scoped and made it a point to make sure they weren't doing a nerve block. I hate them and will never have another one. It wasn't necessary anyway. My doctor injected a bunch of Lidocaine straight into my hip.

I had arthroscopic hip surgery 4 days ago for a labral tear and reshaping of femor. I, too, am having vaginal numbness. I asked about it yesterday and was told that "they put a post there." Not totally sure what that means, but they said that feeling should return in a few days. Then I saw this post. I was wondering if the author could update this info??? I have no idea if they did a nerve block, but that was my initial thought before I called.
