How many nights a week do you eat dinner together?
    iocasta posted:
Someone suggested that we come up with discussion topics so here is one: how many nights a week do you eat dinner together and where? We try to eat dinner together at least 3 times a week. DH generally doesn't get home until about 7 pm. He makes a point to come home by 6 on Tuesday and Friday so we can have dinner together on those nights. We also have dinner together on Sundays. Tuesday family dinner is always at home. Sunday is generally at home but sometimes at a restaurant. Friday is generally at a restaurant. We also have family time during our cocktail hour, which is generally when DH gets home just before Levi's bedtime. We have drinks and chat. Depending on the day of the week Levi will either have sparkling lemon water or ginger ale. I sit and chat with Levi when he is eating his early dinner. How about everyone else?

I like the idea of coming up with discussion topics!

We eat dinner together every night. DH gets home by 5:30 from work, so we are all able to eat together then.

There is an exception maybe twice a month when DH and I have an impromptu date night. We will feed the kids dinner, and after they go to bed DH will go get us good takeout and we will watch TV. (I know, we lead such exciting lives!)

We try to do dinner most every night. DH is home at 6:30 on Monday and Tuesday and 5:30 every other night. I've generally got dinner on the table when he walks through the door and have learned to love my crock pot and casseroles. We're not at the point yet where we're trying to balance activities and family time.

My DH works from home when he is working (these days anyway) so we eat together every night. We often have breakfast together too which is a nice way to start the day.

I was just reading in a parenting book that kids who eat together with the family atleast 3-4 times a week are less likely to get into trouble.

We try to eat together every night as well but my girls are still little and are in bed by 7:15, so we have an early 5pm dinner. Some nights DH has to work late, so he's either coming home as we are finishing up or after we are finished. However, the weekend we have almost all of our meals together. Dinner is a fun time for us b/c we get to hear all of DD#1's stories about her day. Sometimes she seriously cracks us up with what she says. I too have come to love crockpot meals or make ahead casseroles that I just heat up. Not b/c I don't have a lot of time to cook (I'm home by 4:30) but DD#2 is VERY clingy when we get home and it's hard to cook with a toddler hanging onto my leg or crying that she's hungry.

Currently, we eat together about 5 days a week. DS and DD go to grandma's twice a week and usually have already eaten when I pick them up so DH and I eat by ourselves those nights.

DH will be starting a new job soon and he'll be working out of town 5 nights a week so we obviously won't be having dinner together those nights.

I try every night. I feel it is sooo important.
There are times we are running so we go through the drive thru and eat in the car but that is rare.

We eat together most nights. Tuesday & Wednesday's can be challenging. The kids have a few activities going on those nights. It may be that one parent is eating with a LO while the other ate with everyone else.

We eat together every night. It's rare that we are not home at dinner time. It can be hectic and quick sometimes when Ryder has an activity but we still manage to sit down and eat.
