Blood in stool of 4 yr-old
    bjds05 posted:
Not sure if this is allowed but I'm freaking out a little bit... This has never happened before. (I also have an older child.) My 4 year-old just had a poop and there was LOTS of blood when I wiped him. It was bright so I know it was lower tract. He is extremely regular, NEVER constipated. Does this warrant a trip to the ER, or just a call to the doctor in the morning?

Did you get an answer from your doctor?

We got to the doctor the next day and she said to wait and see. Probably hemorrhoids or a fissure. He has had a few more poops with some blood but not near as much as before. She said warning signs are change in appetite, sense of being sick. (My son has had neither of these!) Also, she and the others in the office were very impressed that I thought to (and was able to) take a picture! It eliminated the confusion over differing opinions about "a lot of blood" or "a little blood". It sure made me feel better that they could see it, too!
    Thanks for listening!!!

I'm glad you were able to get into the doctor. Hopefully there won't be any more blood. Kid sure like to keep us on our toes!
