Early development in 8 yr old girl?
    Anon_3372 posted:
My DD just turned 8 and has started growing underarm and pubic hair. The underarm hair is noticeable enough that we use a hair remover before wearing a swim suit or sleeveless top because she is self-concious about it. I am concerned about this early development bc she is very small for her age and honestly, a little immature emmotionally. She was born prematurely and I'm just not sure she ready to process these life changes. I asked her Dr. about it and she wants us to come back in 6 months to chart her growth. I was too scared then to ask many questions and my DD was in the room. So I'm wondering if anyone has a similar experience or insight as to what they may be looking for with her growth. Is it likely that she will start her period soon? I'd appreciate you thoughts...

That's not really early. Most girls start between 9 and 16 so 8 is a bit early but not unusually so. Yes, it's possible she may start her period soon.
