I am 12 weeks pregnant and i heard about this place called ultrasona. They do 3/4D u/s starting at 14 weeks to predict the gender of the baby. If they are wrong they give you your money back! I sched an appt there on sept 1st. so i will be 14w and 3d, a friend told me it was stupid to go because it would scare me by the way the baby look bc its not fully developed. it would be neat to see what the baby will look like when all the features are there but I more less just wanted to know what im having so I could start buying things. Has anyone else done this??? If so was it accurate or scarey to you? Advice please:)

    Hi abh114 -

I am also interested to hear if anyone else has had this done.

Here is some information on ultrasounds which cautions having a 3-D or 4-D because untrained personnel may provide inaccurate or harmful information. So prepare yourself if you decide to have it done and talk with your doctor.

well I go in about a week so I will keep you posted on what my experience will be. So does that mean their not certified to perform u/s?
    Robert O Atlas, MD responded:
From the medical side of things. the Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine does not recommend and actually does not condone doing ultrasound for entertainment purposes.

Although we believe there are no harmful affects of ultrasound to our knowledge, this kind of use of the technology is not warranted.

Ultrasound for gender at this gestational age can be wrong first. It is more likely to be more accurate about a month later when many physicians are ordering an evaluation from a trained individual who is looking for abnormalities.

These places are not regulated and you don't know the quality of the information provided.

I also wanted to know what will be the gender of my baby, but the other important question was to know how it will look like.
I have made a research and i found several web sites and two iphone application which draws baby face based on traits of mom, dad and their parents. My baby was born tree months ago and i was really surprised how good draws it made.
