    First trimester lower back pain
    ryanashi posted:
I am 31 years old, I am 13 weeks pregnant, and this is my first pregnancy. I have very sharp lower back pain, left side only - the best I can describe it as is a pinched nerve causing pain to radiate into my left buttock (but not down the leg). I saw a chiropractor already (today, Wednesday) and he could not find anything wrong, he thinks the pain is not orthopedic in nature. He told me to go back to my obstetrician and verify it's not hormonal. Could the pain be related to pregnancy? I told my obstetrician about this on Monday, but I think we both guessed it wasn't related to the pregnancy and he agreed I should go see a chiropractor. I haven't put on extra weight yet, and am not really showing yet. One nurse speculated it might be relaxin, although I thought that did not really pop up until second and third trimesters? This pain is pretty debilitating, hurts when I walk, hurts to sit on the floor, hurts to pull on my left sock for example. I don't normally get backpain at all, this is very new (1-2 weeks). Anyone have any thoughts or experienced terrible back pain like this, this early in a pregnancy?
