Blood & Fluid Buildup after Surgery
    MommyNiki2 posted:
On Wednesday (3/30/16), I had a cyst removed from just above my right eyebrow. I was sent home with no real instructions other than no Advil/Aleve/Aspirin. By Wednesday afternoon, I had a pocket of fluid and blood in the corner of my right eyelid. I called the dermatologist and sent a photo and she said it was normal due to gravity. I was told it would probably get worse and creep down past my eye by the next day. I was told to just keep icing the area. By Thursday morning, my whole right eye lid was red and swollen with blood/fluid, as well as the upper part of my right cheek. I called again to see if there was anything I could do about it and was told to just keep icing and no Advil. So, I continued icing the area from time to time throughout the day. By Friday morning (yesterday), the bridge of my nose and the inside corner of my left eye were swollen with fluid. By yesterday afternoon, I began having some whitish-yellow goop coming out of both my eyes. I'm assuming it's draining??? My dermatologist's office was closed Friday so I couldn't call to check. This morning I woke up to find more fluid has built up in my left eye lid as well as the upper part of my left cheek. I still have goop accumulating in my eyes. The skin is yellowish in the swollen areas. I do not have a fever or any pain. No goop is coming out of the incision area. Since my dermatologist won't be in until Monday, do I wait? Is this all normal? Or is this something that I should have checked out right away? I was not informed of any possible side effects so I'm clueless as to what's normal and what's not. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

    Hi MommyNiki2,

How are you doing now? Did your doctor say that the symptoms you were having were a normal reaction? I hope that you are back to feeling good and that the swelling is totally gone!
