    Question about Xanax

    An_267238 posted:
My son was prescribed Xanax 6 months ago and took it as directed for a couple of days. He then took several (about at one time and passed out. He hasn't taken anything since then. He thinks that he is still having withdrawal symptoms from it and I have tried to tell him that he shouldn't be since it's been more than six months. He won't go to a doctor and he won't do anything. He just stays in his room all day and night because he says he is suffering side effects of the Xanax. Does anyone have any information that I can read on Xanax or share with him stating that it's not the Xanax or is it? I am so frustrated and he won't go to a professional and ask about it.

Hi there and thanks for posting,

I'm so sorry to hear that you son is withdrawn and reclusive as a result of his perceived withdrawal symptoms. No parent wants to see their child suffer in that way regardless if it is being caused by withdrawal from the drug or it is something unrelated.

Here are links to information about Xanax withdrawals:

I would highly suggest consulting a mental health professional about how to motivate your son to seek treatment and help for his symptoms.
